Obviously before starting your photography business you need to have spent the time working with a photographer so that you have all the skills you need to take great pictures amd edit them. You should have experience with photo editing software and with taking pictures so that you are not going in blind sighted. You should also take courses in photography. All of this experience would be a great opportunity to create your own portfolio which you can use to showcase your best work to potential customers and you can also it use to advertise your business when you first start out.

 

When you are starting your photography business from home the first thing you need to do is figure out your costs. How much money are you going to put into your business? How much will your equipment ( tripods , cameras , etc.) cost? How much profit are you planning on making? How much will your advertising cost? If you are not good at accounts or finances you should work with an account. When starting out your photography business you should purchase the best equipment you can afford because you not only need your photos to turn out good but you need to look professional in front of your first customers so they will come back to you in the future or so they can recommend you in the future.

 

The next thing you need to do after that is to start advertising your business. Advertising can be done in many forms. The first thing you should do is to launch a website for your business and to set up social media accounts for your business on Facebook , Instagram etc. On these sites update often upload pictures of your recent work. In your local area advertise through posters , flyers , and business cards and make sure to put contact details , the website for your business and all your social media accounts. Always advertise in places relevant to your target market. If you are a wedding photographer you would be best advertising in a bridal shop or a florist. If you are a baby photographer you should advertise in baby shops or a gym where they hold mother and baby classes.
